Ryöken Instinct 24 Days Dog Advent Calendar
BRIEF: Illustrate a festive scene in a Japanese / origami style, sympathetic to the style of the Ryoken Instinct logo which is itself geometric and modern with a playful twist.
Illustration to wrap the outer box as well as the inner doors and drawers (cutter guide supplied by the printer).
I was also asked to illustrate the constellations for the individual dog treat pouches which are housed within.
CLIENT: Ryöken Instinct
METHOD: I began by sketching with pencil onto a printout of the cutter guide, to ensure all elements would flow nicely over the work area.
I then brought the sketch into Adobe Illustrator and digitised it by hand, adding extra elements to make it really come to life.
It was a real treat to be able to work on this dog advent calendar project in collaboration with Wildnut Studios and Ryoken Instinct.
It's unusual for me to work in colour so this was a step away from my comfort zone but it was really nice to inject some fresh pastels into the linework.
I was given free reign on the finishing so each of the dogs were given a spot UV finish, with the logo inside silver foiled. The little draw ribbons are also silver to give a magical sparkle, and each of the treat pouches are illustrated with a constellation of the main ingredient.
